Just got the 705 two weeks ago.  Been reading Randy Horton e-book "Understanding Your X-Terra 705" and have discovered a whole new way of metal detecting then I have been detecting.  Have the gold pack coil, and have ordered the 9 inch 3. kHz concentric coil for silver  coin hunting

So you did the frequency adjust before the video started right?

Am I missing something here? If pop tops normally read at 14 then why are you trying to get the pop top to read at 14?? The only way I can see what you are saying to make any sense is if the pop tops normally read at 12. Am I missing something?

    Hey Gerry
Great video, my first gold is on my list for 2015. I also, have the Xterra 705. Seems like them 5 numbers are right on to find the gold however, I am wondering what an average sized gold class ring would rang up on the 705? Low 20's? I would greatly appreciate a response. Thanks

Hi, I have been using my 705 for about two years. Love it and have found many rings, but this is a new way to set it up for me.I have tried this a couple time.  Many of my rings I found were at solid 18  20. I am curious why would 18  20 be trashed? Thanks for the help, Lee

How do I do this with the E trax?

  • Auriferousoz - January 12, 2018 reply

Good video as always Gerry. Have a question to ask. If you can shift the ID of the pull tab with the frequency control, then wouldn't that also shift the rings that fell in the same ID number as the pull tab? I hope you understand my question, thanks.

There is one big problem with those setting at some parks, that is
Can slaw reads the same on these setting also.

why doesn't it show the number any ways regardless if  it is being discriminated out then you have a second chance it just doesn't have to beep

Great information, but I couldn't find anything about the frequency change in the manual.  Was that just an oversight?

This is a good video and I thank you for the awesome tips. I live in Oregon and I noticed that pull tabs vary alot. Yes, pulltabs do ring up as 14 but what i find out is that pull tabs are bouncy targets. So when i say bouncy i mean Tids from 4 all the way up to 38 but mainly stays in the 22 range. I also know that some pull tabs come up as a solid 22. I personally just dig the for sure targets that ring a good number. I also know that foil will do this also, foil tends to make your depth bounce and carry a rough signal. I do hope this info helps alil as I am relatively new to the 705 and have been using a ace 250. I do love my 705 though = ) happy hunting everyone and good luck… btw.. try to have fun even with those pesky pull tabs
